South Paw Farm is run by its hard working seasonal work crew and the owners Margaret (Meg) and Ryan Mitchell. All the crew folks listed below are kind-hearted, brilliant, strong, possess persistent work ethic, and have skilled intuition. The farm was started by Meg when she was 21 years old in Unity, Maine. This land was a scrubby and beautiful piece of raw land that Meg built into a small and diversified organic farm. Meanwhile, in that same year, Ryan started his first year of apple picking at Sweetser's Apple Barrel in Cumberland Center. They both spent the next 4 seasons not knowing each other existed, but following a parallel dream of agricultural pursuits. They finally met at the Portland Farmers' Market through mutual friends. In 2015, they bought the farm they now reside on: 64 acres of diversified farmland and an 1800's farmhouse in Freedom, Maine.
